How I Became the Woman I Was Born to Be and How You Can Too!
by Karen Carlisle Ely
Life can only be understood backwards;
but it must be lived forwards.
~ Søren Kierkegaard
In the past fourteen years I have written six books and self-published five of them: Daring to Dream: Reflections on the Year I Found Myself; A Retreat of My Own: A Personal Retreat Guide; Breathing Space: Mini-retreats for the Heart and Soul; 21 Stepping Stones to a More Peaceful, Meaningful Life; and 21 Days of Gratitude (out of print).
A Safe Place to Stand is my second memoir and one near and dear to my heart because it chronicles my 24-year journey to becoming the woman I was born to be and contains the teachings of my dear friend and spiritual mentor, Bobby Brooks. Much of my journey was messy, much of it was chaotic and frightening, and much of it was, and continues to be, surprising, inspiring and immensely rewarding.
I am sharing the Introduction and Preface to A Safe Place to Stand in the hope that my story might be meaningful and uplifting for you and also to provide enough intrigue that you’ll want to read the entire book . . . and that it will entice you to encourage your friends, sisters, daughters and mothers to want to read it as well.
I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP in attracting a main-stream publisher for A Safe Place To Stand, which will allow my book to reach women all over the world. I have secured a literary agent (that alone is a miracle) and before she can take my book to a publisher, I need to increase the number of women who are following me and the Sedona Women’s Institute. SO please ask your friends, sisters, daughters and mothers to click here and sign up for my eNews and be the first to hear about the publication of A Safe Place to Stand.
Thank you for helping to uplift the world one woman at a time!
