Diana, Herself: A Journey of Awakening

8-Month Journey of Awakening with Karen Ely
August 15, 2016 ~ March 20, 2017

Awakening includes shifting one’s sense of identity
to something infinitely more deep and vast than a human body-mind,
and paradoxically knowing that one is nothing (no thing) and everything.
The awakened state, by all accounts, is peaceful, joyful and loving
beyond description.  ~ Martha Beck, Diana, Herself

Diana, Herself: An Allegory of Awakening by Martha Beck proved to be a jolt of awakening for Sedona Women’s Institutes founder/director, Karen Ely.  And she is anxious to share it with you!

If you’ve been awakened by Diana, Herself (or would like to be) and are Diana 2yearning to continue your journey of awakening with a community of like-minded women, then join us for this extraordinary 8-month opportunity.

Using Diana, Herself and the Seven Tasks of Bewilderment as our guide, we will walk together through Diana’s magical journey, learning how to connect with our most authentic self and live a more awakened, meaningful life.

Beginning August 15th and continuing until March 20th, we will meet on the third Monday of each month at 6pm MT via a conference line to explore awakening through the Seven Tasks of Bewilderment and share our experiences, struggles and successes.

MONTH ONE ~ INTRODUCTION
Martha Beck shares, “Diana, Herself is the most practical self-help book I’ve ever written. The Guide to Bewilderment is my description of a process that began for me when I moved to the forest.”   Our first month’s call will include: Esalen2a chance to get acquainted, an introduction to our eight month journey, and a discussion of the allegory, which is at the heart of Diana, Herself.

MONTH TWO ~ CALM ALL FEAR
“Awakening can almost be defined as absolute freedom from fear.”  We’ll be discussing how to learn to see the present moment as fundamentally safe and how integrating this Task into our lives will allow us to live in joy and peace.

MONTH THREE ~ ABSORB NOURISHMENT, NOT POISON
“Only when your fear is calmed can you skillfully choose to keep yourself healthy.”  We’ll be exploring our gut-sense, the part of us that tells us how to take in nourishment without swallowing poison.  This will include a discussion of food, events, relationships and our thoughts.

MONTH FOUR ~ LET YOUR META-SELF MOVE YOU
When you are surprised to see yourself pick up a new hobby, rekindle an old friendship, be suddenly drawn to certain books and websites, you might be “feeling the pull of your meta-self, the intention that comes from beyond Butterflyconscious thoughts.”   We’ll be discussing what this means and how we can apply this practice to our lives, letting our meta-self wash the dishes, make the bed, cook our dinner.

MONTH FIVE ~ CONNECT YOUR HEART TO ALL HEARTS
“If you allow safety, nourishment and movement to flow from your meta-self, it is inevitable that you will fall in love.”  We’ll be discussing how we can practice being still enough to feel our heart emanating to and from loved ones, making the bond between us even more tangible, more real.

MONTH SIX ~ TELL THE TRUTH
“We all use language every day, and for the most part, we use it unwisely.  Humans are the only animals that can create an imagined future so real and frightening that suicide seems preferable to facing it.”  This month we’ll discuss how we can learn to use our verbal mind as a servant of truth, rather than delusion.  We’ll discuss how we can quiet the furies and see them as a mirror of what we most need to unlearn.

MONTH SEVEN ~ LET YOUR META-SELF FLOW THROUGH YOU
“This means abandoning self-control and allowing your mind, as well as your body, to be run by your meta-self.”  This month we’ll discuss how we can learn to open our entire being to the flow of inspiration, which can be a bit frightening but also incredibly liberating and expansive.

MONTH EIGHT ~ NOTICE THAT YOU ARE ALL OF ALL, ALWAYS
Our discussion this month will be on integrating “the full realization of the meta-self as both a death and a birth.  It dissolves the ego, with its illusion of being a separate, isolated physical form.”
