A Personal Retreat in the Greek Isles
Those all-too-rare moments when a glimpse of sky
or a leaf dancing in the wind suddenly plucks me
out of my day-to-day consciousness and sets me floating. . .
Is there any way I can make them more of my daily life?
~ Daniel Klein, Travels with Epicurus
If you are yearning for time to reflect and just be . . . enjoying long afternoons sitting with friends or listening to music or musing about the story of your life . . . then join us in for a delicious retreat in the Greek Isles.
The spectacular Greek Island of Hydra is a Rip Van Winkle town, charming, peaceful and coiled around dazzling, bright labyrinths of cobblestone steps and slender streets.
On the cobbles, a line of donkeys waits patiently to carry our suitcases up to our island home. There are no land vehicles In Hydra, not even bicycles. The island has the atmosphere of a long-cherished and deeply quixotic place, a place far, far away, even though it is separated from Athens by a short boat ride. There are no street names on Hydra either. You simply set off and discover what lies around the next corner.
Hydra . . . just the right mix of hustle-bustle with utter (almost otherworldly) calm, tranquility and natural beauty.
On Hydra, a traffic jam is three donkeys and a fisherman.
~ Rick Steves
PRIVATE AND SEMI-PRIVATE RETREATS
Join us for the unique opportunity to step into a mindful, meditative space where you can begin to listen to your own heart and find your way back to the woman you were born to be. Each day we will meditate, meander, share insights, and immerse ourselves in the peace and vibrant culture of our Greek paradise. We will hike, relax on the beach, sit in cafes, read and write on one of our spectacular patios, dance and sing with the locals, and revel in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move at our own pace and awaken to the possibilities for a more peaceful, joyful and meaningful life.
Facilitator, Karen Ely, would love to have you join her for a one-week, two-week, three-week or full month retreat in the beautiful Olive Tree House she’s rented in Hydra for the month of September 2019. There is space for two women to join Karen each week in a shared bedroom (or you can opt to create a private retreat by reserving the room for yourself). Your days will be your own, to create in any way that suits you. However, it is Karen’s hope that you will join us for guided retreat time each morning and each evening, helping to create a more communal, insightful experience for everyone.
OUR HOME . . . peace and quiet with only the cicadas to serenade us . . .
Olive Tree House will be our home. It features two bedrooms and a large living space with a sea-facing balcony with spectacular panoramic views, kitchen inside plus a full outside kitchen for dining on the terrace overlooking the gorgeous gardens. From our home you will enjoy stunning, panoramic views all the way across the Sardonic Gulf to the Peloponnese mainland. Donkey service will deliver our shopping and groceries needs.
