The Geography of Grace

Women’s Virtual Retreat with Allison DeHart
Six Sessions ~ Six Months
January ~ June 2021

There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul;
we search for its outlines all our lives.
– Josephine Hart

In this time of isolation, many of us find ourselves removed from contact with the natural world. Cut off from the land, we can lose our sense of place and grounding, our sense of home and belonging on this earth; likewise, our lives can become starved for what deeply animates us.

The Geography of Grace will lead you through a six-month exploration of the geography of the soul, the true essence of the work of Parker Palmer’s Center for Courage & Renewal. Each session is designed to provide you with an opportunity to consider different aspects of your inner and outer geography. The notion of grace and its many facets is woven throughout each session. Drawing on metaphors from landscapes, and also inviting exploration of the notion of grace, this six-session retreat offers a map and compass for a landscape that opens the journey to the brilliant vistas of your inner life.  Each session will provide a map for just one aspect of the landscape where explorers discover their own meaning, create their own pictures, and write their own travel log.

Session 1, January 16th: Vista Points, Landscapes of the Soul
Learn the foundational practices of a Circle of Trust® and explore the terrain of your life through the eyes of your soul.

Session 2, February 20th: Spirit Guides for the Journey, Befriended by Grace
Reflect on your experience of being companioned in the landscape of the soul.

Session 3, March 20th: The Desert Places, Landscapes of Hope & Persistence
Explore your inner drive for survival and the power of a clearing in life, while discerning the difference between the voice of the ego and the voice of the soul.

Session 4, April 17th:  Sea and Release, Finding Solace
Identify a place of grace that offers solace in response to the pain and suffering that is an inevitable part of life.

Session 5, May 15th: Marshlands, Soul Kitchens
Explore your alchemical inner ground, that fertile territory within that sustains and renews you.

Session 6: June 19th: Garden Spaces, The Spiritual Imagination of Enclosures
Reap the harvest of your explorations and look toward the future growth that lies ahead for you.
