The Listening Path

7-Week Virtual Retreat for Women
February 13 ~ March 27, 2020

The listening path brings us healing, insight and
clarity.  It brings us joy and perspective.
Above all, it brings us connection.
~ Julia Cameron

Based on the lifetime work of esteemed author and life-change master, Julia Cameron, and her latest book (her 40th), The Listening Path, together we will take a seven-week journey toward expanding our listening skills, one week at a time.

Julia’s work has been life-changing for me, from her brilliant The Artist’s Way to The Listening Path, she has taken me from a lost, confused 46-year old to the woman I am today.  And in the process, I was fortunate enough to spend many weekend’s with Julia when she accepted my invitations to facilitate her programs to women in Sedona on four separate occasions.

It was after the first program she facilitated for me, that I took the following day off work, registered my business and committed to completing my first memoir, Daring to Dream.  That is the power of Julia’s work.

Elizabeth Gilbert says it best:  “Without The Artist’s Way, there would have been to Eat Pray Love.”

We will meet each Saturday from February 13 – March 27 from 9:00am – 10:30am PT (10:00am – 11:30am MT, 11:00am – 12:30pm CT, 12:00pm – 1:30pm ET).   Each session will expand your listening skills, one level at a time.  And each will be recorded in case you have to miss a session.

FEBRUARY 13:  FOUNDATIONAL TOOLS

The basic tools remain the same, each develops
our listening skills in specific ways.

~ Julia Cameron

You will be introduced to the basic tools Julia has taught since her 1992 debut with The Artist’s Way:  Morning Pages, Personal Dates, and Walking.  You will learn how each of these tools will develop your listening skills in particular ways and how that process might uplift your life.

FEBRUARY 20: LISTENING TO OUR ENVIRONMENT

The first step on the listening path is to listen to what
we may be in the habit of tuning out: the world around us.
~ Julia Cameron

You will learn to focus on what you hear around you, taking the time to really listen to your environment.  And in time you will learn to notice the sounds that you find soothing or abrasive and with that knowledge, you can begin to change your soundtrack to one that is meaningful and life-affirming for you.

FEBRUARY 27:  LISTENING TO OTHERS

The second tool of the listening path asks us to listen
to others, to tune into what they are actually saying,
taking in their words and their intentions.
~ Julia Cameron

You will learn to develop a habit of listening, really listening, to other people in your life.  Rather than interrupting or finding yourself distracted, you will learn how extraordinary it can be to listen more closely and consciously to people around you.  And in that process, you’ll learn to see how good listeners have impacted your life and how you could give that same gift to others.

MARCH 6:  LISTENING TO OUR HIGHER SELF

This week we will learn to tune into that greater, knowing part of ourselves,
and to access it whenever we need to—for decisions big or small.
~
Julia Cameron

You will learn to listen to the guidance of your higher self, or what I refer to as your inner heroine.  And in the process you will learn to trust our own inner knowing rather than always seeking the guidance of others.

MARCH 13:  LISTENING BEYOND THE VEIL

This week we will listen deeper yet, and we will reach
to connect to those who have passed on.

~ Julia Cameron

You will learn that if you are open, you can actually access the guidance of loved ones who are no longer with you.  At times of turmoil or when you find yourself at a crossroads, this practice has the potential to support and guide you in wondrous ways.

MARCH 20:  LISTENING TO OUR HEROES (AND HEROINES)

We will find that with a little openness and imagination,
we may be able to connect with heroes more easily,
and more intimately, than we might expect.
~ Julia Cameron

You will gain clarity on which heroes or heroines are personal to you, that you admire and find inspiring.  And, as in reaching to those beyond the veil, you will begin to ask and receive their much-needed guidance.

MARCH 27:  LISTENING TO SILENCE

It is by listening to the sound of no sound that
we come to appreciate the sound of sound.
~ Julia Cameron

While it might seem a bit odd—especially after having spent weeks learning to listen to yourself and others—but you can learn to listen, deeply listen, to the sound of silence.  It might seem a bit frightening at the beginning but you will begin to see that this “nothing” is truly “something” you need to sit with.

Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
~ Simon & Garfunkel
